  • Wood chopsticks, skewers, stir sticks

  • Contents of your vacuum cleaner bag or canister

  • Ashes from the fireplace, barbecue grill, or outdoor fire pit

How Do I Get Started?

  • Find a pail with a lid (such as a four-litre ice cream pail) and place it in a convenient place in your kitchen, such as under the sink
  • Put your food scraps in the compost pail instead of the trash can
  • You can also wrap your scraps in newspaper or place them in a paper bag
  • Place your scraps and/or empty your pail in with your grass trimmings

  • Fur from the dog or cat brush
  • Droppings and bedding from rabbit/gerbil/hamsters, etc.
  • Newspaper/droppings from bird cage
  • Feathers
  • Alfalfa hay or pellets
  • Rawhide dog chews
